// About

A small engineering firm.

No layers between you and the people writing the code.

// 37

The name

E37 stands for Element 37 — rubidium. A soft alkali metal that almost no one thinks about, and that almost everything depends on.

Rubidium runs the atomic clocks inside GPS satellites, cell towers, and the time references that keep distributed systems honest about when things actually happened. It's not flashy. It doesn't sell itself. It just keeps time, accurately, for years, while the systems above it take the credit.

That's the kind of software we like to build: precise, reliable, and quietly load-bearing. The kind that makes the rest of the stack possible without ever asking for attention.

What we believe

E37 Systems is a software development practice for businesses that have been burned by agencies before, or who are about to hire one and want to avoid that.

We're a small team of senior engineers. We choose our clients carefully, work in tight scopes, and ship working code — not roadmaps. The principles below aren't slogans. They're how we decide what to take on and how we run every engagement.

Code is a liability

Less of it, written carefully, beats more of it, written fast. Every line we add has to earn its keep.

Boring stacks ship

We pick proven tools. The excitement should come from solving your problem, not from chasing a framework.

Working software

Weekly demos, plain-English progress notes, and access to the repository from day one. You see commits, not slide decks.

No invoice surprises

Fixed-scope or hourly, agreed in writing before we start. You'll never get a "discovery overrun" bill from us.

How we work

One short engagement at a time. No retainers you can't cancel. No 18-month statements of work that nobody reads.

A

Discovery week

A paid five-day deep dive. We read the code, talk to the team, write a brief, and propose a path. You own the output even if we don't continue.

B

Build sprints

Two-week sprints with a Friday demo and a written changelog. You see commits in real time. Cancel after any sprint.

C

Clean handoff

Documented runbook, infrastructure transferred to your accounts, and a debrief. Optional retainer for follow-up — never required.

Let's talk shop.

Tell us what you're building, what's broken, or what you're worried about. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
